How can you tell if someone blocked you on Facebook?

Being blocked on Facebook by a friend or someone you enjoy chatting with or even a new business connect you met on Facebook is very common, while there are several reasons why you might want to block someone or for a person to want to block you, you might want to be sure if the person you are suspecting to have blocked you actually blocked you or the Facebook algorithm isn’t working in your favor by not showing you their recent updates. Since Facebook doesn’t send you a notification when a friend Blocks you or if they deactivated their account, it is left for you to find out.

Unfortunately, the blocking feature on Facebook acts similarly to when someone deactivates their account so, whether someone has blocked you or they’ve deactivated their account completely, you won’t be able to see their posts, send messages, or see their profile. So, how can you tell if someone blocked you on Facebook? Here are some steps you can take to verify if someone blocked you on Facebook or not.

Steps to tell if someone blocked you on Facebook

how to check if someone blocked you on Facebook

Once you stop seeing a friend on messenger or can’t find their post on Facebook, don’t conclude yet just do the following first;

  1. Login to your Facebook account and search for their full name using the search box. If you can’t find the person, move to step 2.
  2. Logout of your Facebook account and repeat the search process using the search box. If you still can’t find the person, move to step 3.
  3. Go to Google search and do the following; Facebook: site:facebook.com Charles Smith(replace Charles Smith with the name of the person. Make sure you are not logged in on Facebook). This search will list all the persons bearing the name then you can look through the list to find the person you are looking for. If you find the person, click on the link to go to the person’s profile then, copy the profile link, login to your account, past the profile link to see if you can still view the profile. If you can, then the person hasn’t blocked you but if you can’t or you get a message saying “Sorry, this content isn’t available right now” then you have been blocked.
  4. If the person is not on the list from the search above, then it is possible that the person has changed his/her profile name or the account has been hacked or the person has deactivated his or her account.

You can also use the following steps to check if someone blocked you on Facebook

  1. Login to your Facebook, search for them through the search bar. If you can’t find the person, send the name and any details which can be used to identify the profile to any of your friends with an active Facebook account to help you search for the person and send you their profile URL and screenshot for confirmation.
  2. You can also try going through your messenger to find previous chats with the person then send a message to the person. If you get “Sorry this person isn’t receiving messages right now”, it means you have been blocked.
