Opay is a mobile money service launched my Opera in 2017 as part of its $100 million investment in Africa for the growth of the digital economy. The service maid its way to Nigeria in 2018 with the acquisition of Telnet Nigeria Limited’s mobile money platform Paycom.
Opay is designed for Android users to make fast, cheap and secure transactions from the comfort of their smartphone. This service also allows you to receive and send money direct to bank account without actually having a bank account.

Complete Features of Opay
The app offers the following features;
- Ability to send and request money
- Airtime purchase: buy airtime on the go and recharge family and friends with ease.
- Receipt keeping: the app keeps a digital receipt of all transactions.
- Points: you get points for each transaction done
- Agent: you can signup as an agent to start run mobile money service and earn commission for every transaction done(more on this later)
- Bill payment: you can use the app to pay your EEDC and Startimes bill without extra charges.

How to become an Opay Agent
To become an Opay agent, download the app from play store, click on the agent option and fill the registration form and submit. Is just as simple as that. Your account will then be upgraded to an agent.
You can now start carrying out transactions as an agent. You can visit https://operapay.com/Â also send an email to [email protected].

How to get a free POS from Opay
Unlike the steps to become an agent which has no major requirements, getting a POS machine has some basic requirements which you can meet within the space of two to four days.
To get your POS, you are simply required to make transactions totaling #2.5million to #3.5 million within the space of one month of becoming an agent.
Will I still get the POS if I don’t make up to the amount?
Yes, you will be able to get the POS after getting to the stated amount.

How long does it take to get the POS after I meet the requirement?
The POS is issued within the space of six to eight (6-8) weeks of meeting the said requirements.
Other requirements
You are required to complete a form and submit the form alongside your utility bill and a valid ID and your BVN.
Update on Requirements to Get Opay POS for Free
Last month(June, 2018), I promised a reader by name Quadri in the comment section to get some update from the company regarding new polices and update on requirements to get the POS, and below is the unedited response from the company.
“Please be informed that the company’s policy states that you are expected to perform over 150 successful bank transfer in counts and N3,500,000 in volume monthly. This calculation starts from the 1st day of the current month”.
From the information above, you can see that much changes have not been made on the requirements but the transaction counts was not included before but now, you can see that in their response. Meanwhile, so many persons have complained about not getting response after sending an email, I am looking out for other ways and will update that soon.

Accumulated of 2.5m is much within month is much. What if someone did not meet up to that within a month?
That was done to show commitment and to make sure they gain too. So if you don’t meet up, you can’t get it.

Is safe because they need it to track your identity and the bank account linked to the name you provide. You have nothing to fear or worry.
what if i make the said 150 transacctions and did not make the 3.5million in volume capacity will i still get the POS
No, you wouldn’t. The essence of making it 150 is to make sure you get to it

Yes, it is a target you have to meet to get the free POS machine.
Am not happy with opay at all have met up my target since three day ago but now nothing has happen no response from any of there customer rep again.
