What is a Grant?

A grant is a quantity of money, i.e., financial assistance, given by a government, organization, or person for a specific purpose. Unlike a loan, you do not have to pay back the money except in rare cases like when you fail to achieve the set goal or meet the essence of the grant.

JAMII Femmes Grant

Powered by the Coca-Cola Foundation and Women in Africa, the JAMII Femmes initiative aims to increase the impact of African women entrepreneurs on the African economy and support the creation of innovative solutions for sustainable development that will contribute to positive change in Africa. This grant program is a 3 years program that started in 2022. The program is targeting mainly the Agriculture sector and related sectors which are in relation to the sustainable development objectives defined by UNESCO. Click here for details

Global Fund for Women Grant

The Global Fund for Women envisions a world where movements for gender justice have transformed power and privilege for a few into equity and equality for all. The grant funds bold, ambitious, and expansive gender justice movements to create meaningful change that will last beyond our lifetimes.

The Global Fund for Women supports women’s groups that advance the human rights of women and girls by strengthening women’s rights groups.

African Women Development Fund(AWDF) 

The AWDF is a grantmaking foundation that supports local, national, and regional women’s organizations working towards the empowerment of African women and the promotion and realization of their rights. By specializing in grant-making and focused tailored movement-building programs, AWDF works to strengthen and support the work of African women’s organizations. ShEquity SHEBA

The ShEquity Business Accelerator (SHEBA) provides technical and operational support to African female entrepreneurs with impactful and scalable businesses viewed as potential ShEquity investment candidates. The accelerator will offer funds, venture building, and technical support structured around business development, financial management, go-to-market strategy, branding & marketing, governance structure, HR/Team management, leadership development, networking opportunities, founders’ personal development/soft skills development, etc. This is not just a grant, rather is an annual accelerator program with funding opportunities. AGriDI will increase the identification, adaptation, and use of agri-based digital technologies by farmers, SMEs especially women, and youth to enhance agricultural production and marketing through strengthened linkages between research communities, industry, and policy actors, and an improved policy environment.     1. Most of the grants listed here are annual grants so yu can still apply for them next year. Meanwhile some of them accepts application year round which means you can always apply. We will be adding more grants to the list so you can bookmark the page and revisit it later to see what’s new.
