Global Fund for Women Grant Application 2024/2025 – Grant for Women Based Organisations

The Global Fund for Women envisions a world where movements for gender justice have transformed power and privilege for a few into equity and equality for all. The grant fund bold, ambitious, and expansive gender justice movements to create meaningful change that will last beyond our lifetimes.

The Global Fund for Women supports women’s groups that advance the human rights of women and girls by strengthening women’s rights groups.
Global Fund provides small, flexible, and timely grants ranging from $500 to $20,000.

Types of Grants Available at Global Fund for Women Grant

The global fund for women offers three types of grants which your organization can apply for according to their current needs and also apply for more as the need arises.

  1. General Support Grants
  2. Travel and Event Grants
  3. Organizing Meeting/Event Grants
  • General Support Grants – This is a flexible grant that covers general operating and project expenses. You can apply for this type of grant if you wish to get funding to increase the operational cost of your organization or carry out a particular project.
  • Travel and Event Grants – This type of grant is specifically for supporting members of an organization to attend conferences and events.
  • Organizing Meeting/Event Grants – Grants to support organizations in planning a time-sensitive conference or event.

Global Fund for Women also provides immediate support to organizations that are first responders in times of natural and human-made crises.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this grant, your organization must meet the following listed criteria

  • Your organization must be in a country outside the United States.
  • Your organization must have a primary focus on advancing women’s equality and human rights, with these goals clearly reflected in its activities. Please note that groups whose sole purpose is to generate income or to provide charity to individuals are not eligible.
  • Your organization must be a group of women, girls, or trans people working together.
  • Your organization must be governed, directed, and led by women, girls, or trans people, that is they must fill all or most of the leadership roles throughout the various decision-making levels of the group (including but not limited to the most senior decision-making levels).
  • Groups do not need to be registered with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to qualify for funding.

Global Fund for Women does NOT fund the following:

  • Government entities
  • International organizations proposing projects with local partners
  • Political parties or election campaigns
  • Women’s branches/departments/projects of mixed-gender organizations.

Exceptions

Women-focused projects within mixed-gender organizations may occasionally receive support from Global Fund for Women if they work with particularly marginalized groups: for example, women within groups of people with disabilities or women within LGBTQI organizations.

Application Process for Global Fund for Women Grant

There are two steps to complete your application for the grant and they are;

  1. Organization Registration
  2. Application Submission
  • Organization Registration –

To be eligible to apply for a grant, your organization must first begin by submitting an organizational profile online via the global fund for women application portal. The profile submission will enable the global support fund to learn more about the organization’s strategies, priorities, and programs in order to determine whether they align with current funding opportunities( this registration is free).   • Application Submission

After a successful profile creation/ registration, you can proceed to submit your grant application proposal. Note that you are to be invited before you can submit your grant proposal and the section is done based on the profile submitted.

How to Apply for the Global Fund for Women Grant

To start your grant profile process, you are to complete the form online by visiting the Global Grant for Women application portal here. After which you are to wait for an invitation to submit your grant proposal.

Note: Grant Proposals or profiles sent via emails are no longer allowed

Application Deadline

Applications are accepted throughout the year and grants are awarded every three months.
