Bilkent University (Turkish: Bilkent Üniversitesi) is a non-profit private university located in Ankara, Turkey. It was founded by İhsan Doğramacı, the first president of The Council of Higher Education and the head of the prominent Doğramacı family, to create a center of excellence in higher education and research in 1984. It has constantly been ranked among the top Turkish universities since its establishment. In 2011, the university was ranked 112th in the world by The World University Rankings.

Bilkent University was modeled after Harvard University and was the first non-profit private university established in the country. The name Bilkent is an abbreviation of bilim kenti: Turkish for “city of science”.

Scholarship Details

The scholarship is open to Undergraduate, Masters, PhD students.

Value and Duration of Award

Financial assistance is provided in the form of a tuition waiver or a tuition waiver plus a monthly stipend. The amount of the stipend is adjusted annually to cover changes in the cost of living.

Eligible Countries

All International students are allowed to apply for this scholarship irrespective of their country of origin.

Eligibility Criteria for the Bilkent University Fully-Funded International Scholarships

  • include a minimum of 2.80/4.00 CGPA for BSc graduates or MSC students at the time of application.
  • If you are a Turkish citizen resident in Turkey: an ALES score is required, <55 (quantitative)
  • Otherwise; GRE General Test score is required: 153 (quantitative). However, if you are off by a small margin and you have a strong background, we encourage you to apply.
  • TOEFL IBT(at least 87), IELTS (at least 6.5 average and 5.5 from each section), or Bilkent COPE (at least C).
  • All nationality are eligible to apply

Required Documents for the Scholarship

  • Submission of ALES (Akademik Personel ve Lisansüstü Eğitimi Giriş Sınavı/Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam) or GRE scores. GMAT scores are required for graduate programs in Business Administration.)
  • Fluency in written and oral English. Please see the websites of each graduate school for the list of accepted tests.
  • Official transcripts.
  • Recommendations from instructors or others qualified to evaluate academic ability.
