A lot of people use personal computers. Like every other electronic and gadget, it is very useful and quite expensive. If you happen to have one, it is necessary to take good care of it, to avoid being one of the many laptops and other electronics piled up in the repairman’s shop, most of them never to work again. To take good care of these useful devices, follow the following steps and your device will live long enough to avoid treatment from a technician.

The destruction caused by a virus to a computer system is numerous. From altering program function to giving out sensitive information, and causing the program to malfunction, a virus is bad news for any computing device. Over time, the problems caused by a virus can multiply and get even more complicated for the computer system to handle and for this reason. you have to make sure you install a very active and effective antivirus in your system to ward off all threats posed by a virus and also make sure you update the antivirus regularly.   • Prevent dirt and dust

Recently my friend’s system got burnt and after screwing it open, the system was loaded with dust that blocked the air vent so, dirt and dust can cause a memory problem and other problems for the computer system. As much as possible, make sure that your computer system is kept away from dirt and dust. If you will be away from home for a while and will not need to carry your PC, then put in a bag where dirt and dust will hardly penetrate. You can also get a blower to help you get rid of the dust on a weekly or monthly bases as they accumulate.

  • Before you handle your computer, ground yourself

If for whatever reason, you need to open your computer system, ground yourself using a metal connected to the ground. This is because we have an electrostatic charge on our body, and the charge is capable of destroying components in the computer. When these charges come in contact with components such as RAM and motherboard etc, they can be destroyed, so make sure you are grounded before you handle your computer system for check or anything else that requires opening the system. The standard tool for this purpose is a wrist strap. You can buy one from any standard computer shop around you or order one from a local eCommerce store.

  • Avoid Excessive Heat on your Personal Computer

Overheating destroys components in an electronic system. Although there are fans in most computer systems, it can sometimes malfunction. Make sure the fan in the computer system is in good working condition. Also, make sure the computer system is operating in a well-ventilated environment. If for any reason there is excessive heating in the system, it can burn components and destroy the system. So, to prevent this from happening, you can buy an additional external cooling fan that can be connected to your system through the USB ports or you can get a cooling pad (if you are using a laptop) which you can also place your pc on while using it. This will go a long way to keep the PC in perfect working condition and standard temperature.

  • Use a Surge Protector

Power voltage sometimes fluctuates especially while using generators at home or some unknown fault. This fluctuation or surges can sometimes destroy the system, beginning with burning the power system I.C. To prevent system damage due to power surge, use a surge protector. A surge protector will protect your system from destruction and save you money.

  • Avoid liquid on your Personal computer

Have you ever been told not to eat in a computer lab?  Now we are not stopping you from taking your favorite drink but by all means, avoid using your system close to any liquid. The liquid can spill and get into the system which can cause many problems for the system. Spilled liquid, depending on nature can cause serious burning of the system. Avoid all liquid, they are dangerous to your system.
