Facts About UNTH

Founded in the early 20th century as a standard healthcare centre for Africans built by colonial administrators, the hospital was later changed into a General Hospital after Nigeria gained her independence in 1960. However, at the end of the Nigerian civil war(popularly known as the Biafra War) in 1970, the government of the East Central State transformed it into a Specialist Hospital with effect from July 1, 1970.

By decree number 23 of 1974, the Federal Military Government took over the hospital but left the management in the hands of the Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

The University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu has a website(https://unth.edu.ng) through which all her information and updates are published however, the hospital does not have an established recruitment portal hence all recruitment are done manually by submitting an application form to the management of the hospital when there is a call for recruitment.

Requirements for University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu Recruitment

Requirements for Graduate Intern Nurse

• Candidates must possess a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing Sciences from a recognized University and must have registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

Requirements for Graduate Intern Dental Technologist

• Candidates must possess a Degree of Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Dental Technology from a recognized Institution.

Requirements for Graduate Intern Dental Therapist

• Candidates must possess a Degree of Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Dental Therapy from a recognized Institution.

Requirements for Graduate Nutrition & Dietetics Intern

• Candidates must possess a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Nutrition & Dietetics from a recognized University.

Requirements for Graduate Intern Medical Laboratory Scientist

• Candidates must possess a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) from a recognized University and must have registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).

Requirements for Graduate Intern Radiographer

• Candidates must possess a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Medical Radiography from a recognized University and must have registered with the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN).

Requirements for Graduate Intern Physiotherapist

• Candidates must possess a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Medical Rehabilitation (BMR) from a recognized University and must have registered with the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Registration Board of Nigeria (MRTRBN).

Requirements for Intern Pharmacist

• Candidates must possess a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from a recognized University and must have registered with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).

Referees’ Report

Names of three (3) referees should be given and they should be asked by the candidates to forward their reports directly to the Director of Administration, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku/Ozalla, P.M.B. 01129, Enugu.

Note: Candidates who do not have their Statements of Result and Current Practising Licences should not apply.
