The Department of State Security Service (DSS) carries out different functions which include; anti-terrorism, general security operations, and special duty.

Requirements for DSS Recruitment 2018/2019 at www.dss.gov.ng
The following criteria are to be met by all interested candidates for the Department of State Security Service recruitment 2018;
- Applicant must be a Nigerian by birth or born to a Nigerian parent.
- Male applicants should be at least 1.7m tall while female applicants should be 1.6m tall.
- Chest measurement of 0.86 is required for some positions
- Applicants must be certified fit by a Government hospital
- All applicants must be both physically and mentally fit for service.
The following persons are not allowed to apply for DSS Recruitment;
- A pregnant woman
- Anyone who has undergone orthopedic operation in the past
- A person with flat foot
