What is Community Police?
Community policing is an initiative which has been in the pipeline of Nigeria federal government for years now and has always made its way to tables of discussion when issues of security arrises. Although most communities have often employed the use vigilante groups to serve this purpose, recently the federal government of Nigeria took a stand and decided that it will employ 40,000 Nigerians from all the local governments in the country to work as community police officers(CPOs).
Who Can Apply for Community Police Officer?
According to a statement made by Mohammed Adamu, Inspector General of Police, on Tuesday, 30th July 2019, the CPOs will be recruited from within the communities across all local government areas in Nigeria. So, all Nigerians by birth who are within the working-age can apply for this recruitment to be among the 40,000 officers.

Entry Requirements for Community Police Recruitment 2019/2020
At the time of this post, the requirements for this recruitment have not been released but here are possible requirements drown from the statement of the Inspector General of Police and other online sources on the subject matter;
- Candidate must be a Nigerian by birth
- Candidate must fall under the working age (18-65)
- Candidates must be free from criminal offenses and have clean records
- Applicant must be known within his/her community and provide a document to back his/her local government
- Applicant must have a minimum of O’level certificate

Community Policing Recruitment Portal
No official recruitment portal has been released yet but since the recruitment is in line with the Nigeria police, the official recruitment portal for Nigeria police force www.psc.org.ng, nigeriapolicecareers.net may be used to conduct this recruitment.
Community Police Salary
The salary structure for this job will be in line with the new minimum wage signed by the federal government of Nigeria since its a federal government job.
