Boston University, one of the United States’ highly ranked research universities, is currently accepting applications from high-performing international students who wish to study in the United States.
The university has opened its scholarship application portal for a new academic section, and interested local and international students can now submit their entries.
BU currently has multiple scholarships for different categories of students with up to $25,000 per year to cover the scholarship per qualified student, and each successful applicant is also qualified for four four-year scholarship coverage.

Boston University Trustee Scholarship
The BU Trustee Scholarship is one of the scholarship options available to international students. The Truste Scholarship is currently the school’s most prestigious scholarship and covers full undergraduate tuition and fees for all qualified students, and is renewable for four years.

BU Presidential Scholarship
The Boston University Presidential Scholarship is open to all first-year students at BU. The scholarship covers half of the year’s tuition. Application for this scholarship is open to both local and international students.
Dean’s Scholarships
This is a merit-based scholarship available to students who perform exceptionally and have a proven record of high academic achievement. This scholarship usually covers full tuition and other recognitions.
Other scholarships available at BU include;
need-based scholarship, national merit scholarship, and others which are not available to international students.
Eligibility Criteria for Boston University Scholarship
To be eligible for BU scholarships, you must meet these criteria, especially if you’re an international student.
- Secondary School Records: You must send in your secondary school certificate in English and an original version
- English Language Test: For applicants from countries where English is not their first language, you must submit your TOEFL iBT, IELTS, or Duolingo English Language Test results. You are required to score 125-135 in your language test to be eligible.
- Proof of Fund: One-year statement of Account. Although the university offers scholarships, they still require you to submit a statement of account showing that your sponsor can meet your needs while you study at the university.
- Completion of Essay: for applicants of the trustee scholarship, you are required to write an essay(topic is on the application website)

How to Apply for Boston University Scholarship 2026
Interested international students are to submit their scholarship application online via the BU scholarship application portal here. It is important to note that only those applying for the Trustee Scholarship are required to submit an essay during this application process.
